Bottleverse is a social innovation festival for the bold and the kind-hearted. Founded by BottleDream in 2016, it has grown into a premier gathering for youth and organizations who refuse to be bystanders in the face of public issues. Across five editions, we have explored the intersections of Social Innovation and Business for Good.

In our 2025 edition, we took 200+ changemakers deep into the nature of Anji Village to camp. Together, we dove into six defining themes of our time: Inclusive Society, Rural Revitalization, New Life Proposals, A World in Motion, Staying Grounded, and Reinventing the Everyday.

Parallel Light is a travel & lifestyle platform which connects urban youth to rural heartlands through immersive experiences. We curate meaningful adventures from road-building in ancient forests to living with Mosuo families to community workshops which inspires you to rethink love and relationships. We believe that by building deeper ties with the land and the people on it, we make every departure more purposeful.

In July 2022, we opened the doors to basecamp —BottleDream’s physical home in Shanghai and a living experiment in social innovation. Located at 152 Lixi Road, this 500sqm space was reimagined from a rigid office into a breathable, public hub. It’s a place where specialty coffee, curated books, and community exhibitions coexist.

By connecting over 100 cultural groups and brands, basecamp serves as a “neighborhood living room” where people from all walks of life can gather to debate public issues and make sustainable living an everyday practice.

Bring My Own Cup

Since 2020, we’ve partnered with 400+ cafes to offer a "green discount" for anyone bringing their own cup. It’s about conscious consumption—saving money with an attitude while doing something good for the planet.

Anti-Harassment Toolkit

We teamed up with legal and social experts to create China’s first open-source toolkit for preventing workplace sexual harassment. Our goal is to bridge the gap between policy and practice, ensuring a safe, dignified, and fair workspace for everyone.

SK Social Innovation Contest

Over four years, we’ve mentored young people as they navigate the journey from a "wild idea" to a "workable solution". We provide the roadmap—mentorship and resources—to help them launch projects with real-world impact.

Unfold Your City

This 2-month initiative gathered 80+ grassroots proposals to rethink urban life. We brought these ideas to life through city walks, street theater, and immersive exhibitions, proving that everyone has the power to reshape their city.

We co-created a sustainable employee volunteering program, which empowers Alibaba staff to contribute their own creative energy to social causes.

Social Innovation?

To BottleDream, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. Instead of a dictionary definition, we’ve gathered a handful of perspectives from our team and partners. Explore them, and find the one that resonates.

Social innovations are new ideas that meet social needs, create social relationships, and form new collaborations. These can be products, services, or models that address unmet needs more effectively. The European Commission’s objective is to encourage market uptake of innovative solutions and stimulate employment.
